Summary
“Flambae.” Robert’s eyes widen as he tries and fails to keep his voice from pitching with anxiety. He won’t beg over the group line, but it’s a close thing. “Flambae, I’m giving you an order. If you don’t wait for the others, I’m benching you.”
Robert can feel eyes on him; his coworkers must be turning at his audible distress, but he can only concern himself with the floor opening up beneath his shitty office chair and threatening to swallow him whole.
“Fuck you.” Flambae doubles down with real, tangible conviction.
When a red icon pops up alerting Robert that Flambae has turned his earpiece off, his ribs cave in on themselves. On screen, Flambae erupts and is gone in the blink of an eye.

Flambae suddenly comments casually, gaining a confused noise from the woman sitting beside him.
”He looks like he’s about five seconds from puking.”
”What the hell do you—-”
Needless to say, that sick feeling was not just his nerves spiraling as Robert collapses to the ground, throwing up whatever he’d managed to eat from his meal, and probably whatever was left from the drinks and the ramen cup from earlier today.
”Ew, what the hell Robert?! You clearly aren’t fine!”
Visi sounds a little panicked now and he could feel couple others check on him too, with Malevola offering him a napkin to wipe his face. Punch Up was crouched beside him - perhaps not necessary with how short he was but anyway - asking if he needed to go to a hospital or something.
”Bitch got a concussion, don’t need a doctor to spell out the obvious.”

“Yeah. Who can I stay with? Because if I get to have a preference,” Chadli, because he'd foreseen two Blond/e Blazers getting complicated fast and had preempted the problem, more out of character behavior, jabs a thumb at Robert. He lets himself blink instead of flinching. “Robertson would be great. I know him back home. Anybody else from the rest of my team would be great, too. Except the local me. I don't see that going well.”
“You'd be right.” Robert allows, “I don't think Flambae even knows what the word ‘roommates’ means.”
In the corner, where he’d slouched against the wall after insisting on being part of the meeting, Flambae grumbles but does not refute it, and takes umbrage with his double’s phrasing instead. “Who says I'm the local you? Maybe you're just the corporate, sucks-shit me. The beta plan.”
Prototype Flambae ends up in post-canon for a day or two. Special thanks to sunnyfrenchfry on Tumblr for introducing me, this takes HEAVY inspiration from their snippets.

Summary
Robert is still adjusting to the new reality of his life, but he’s found that it is actually all fun. He has real friends now and a weird, semi-hostile relationship with his coworker, Chad, who also serves as his personal spotter at the gym. Because of their routine, it isn't even that weird when Chad invites him to a wedding. It's normal, right?
It would suck if due to the storm the wedding didn't happen at all.It would suck even more if said storm resulted in a punch to the nose, a broken arm, and a brawl in a magic shop. But all's well that ends well, by the time the rain cleared, Robert would realize that he was finished being miserable alone.

The Z-Team takes Robert out to eat for the two year anniversary of his arrival to SDN. Robert has found a certain sense of peace among their chaos. Before he met them, his life was predictable- as much as a superhero's life could be. Wake up, wreck his body trying to fix the mech that he's not sure he ever wanted, wreck his body trying to fight villains, wreck his body not taking care of himself properly, go to sleep. Rinse and repeat. Ever since he put on that headset, he's been healing, slowly but surely.
It's hard to convey how much they all mean to him, but he wants to try.

Summary
The air to Robert’s left grows warm, then hot—a concentrated sunlight that finally forces him to glance up.
Flambae’s hovering over the catwalk now, still nothing but a silhouette of fire. No trace of flesh. No trace of bones. Even his eyes are consumed by flames, leading Robert to wonder about the reliability of the man’s vision. He is a floating fiery ghoul, by all accounts.
One who may or may not be able to see.
Even so, the sight is formidable. He’d be impressed—seeing the effect up close like this is different than seeing it through the Mecha Man suit—but the image of the man slipping on a puddle and breaking his tooth on the bar makes it difficult to be anything but vaguely amused.
“If you’re gonna throw me off, could you at least do it in your other form?” Robert asks listlessly. “I’d like to die without third-degree burns, if at all possible.”
