“Who complained about you eating, question?” Someone must’ve said something. He’s had so many visitors in the last couple of days. Who was it? Grace has never questioned this part of himself. Grace huffs at me.
“No one! I’m just trying to be polite! Eridians have special soundproof eating rooms, shouldn’t I?”
“You are not Eridian!”
He doesn’t need to meet our standards; he’s his own species! Some things he might need to change in his daily life to adapt to Erid life, but his food habits don’t need to be one of them. My words don’t comfort Grace like I thought they would. Grace shrinks into himself, and I wish I were on his side to hug him.
or the Entities provide Grace with a culture teacher to prepare for life on Erid and he gets his first taste of Eridian inhospitality.

Summary
The person in the video is clearly a practiced archer, and they effortlessly hit bulls-eyes from double the distance of the spear throw. They fire multiple arrows in quick succession, and Rocky makes a little squeaking noise with every thunk they make into the target.
“Weapon is… very powerful.”
“Yeah, it certainly can be, but it takes a lot of practice to be able to shoot like that. Archery is more of a sport these days, but some people still hunt with a bow and arrows.”
Rocky falls silent again. Honestly, Grace is relishing in having the evolutionary upper hand for once. He’s put up with so much teasing from Rocky about being leaky, fragile, and stupid, and while it doesn’t really bother him it’ll be nice to have something to tease him back about. He can already picture himself clapping back to a Humans so squishy and weak with a Your species couldn’t even figure out slingshots!

Grace struggles on the trip back to Erid. Some help from his best friend helps to put him back on track.

“Rocky, what on Earth are you doing in—” I stop in my tracks. Or, more accurately, I trip, stumble, and then stop in my tracks. Letting out a stream of half-curses, I turn around to glare at the thing that's definitely bruised the front of my calf.
That's when I see Rocky.
He's… in a suit. Not his ball, but — oh my God — an actual clear, xenonite suit!
It's comprised of a lot of small, triangular xenonite panels held together by some kind of… glue? It’s clearly different to what he used for his ball, since it’s completely flexible and way more form-fitting. I can't even begin to imagine how long it took for Rocky to assemble all of those little panels. They're more like shards, actually, reflecting the light of the ship in little spots all over the room, similar to a disco ball.
The sight is enough to bring tears to my eyes. I doubt it was intentional, but it's really beautiful.

The ache I feel for Adrian has been a part of me for so many years that it is a familiar dragging weight, like a mangled sixth limb. The ache for Grace is stranger, worse. Not because he is an alien, but the opposite; he is so much of myself that I have entirely lost the sound of where he begins and I end, and somehow I still want him closer, closer, closer.

“They probably didn’t because of the outage. I’ll have the NannyBot check it before I get ready,” Grace says, absentmindedly rubbing the offending appendage. He’s not exactly surprised that Rocky’s noticed his increased discomfort. He figures it’s because of the lack of painkillers and from spending hours inspecting the fuel lines for Taumoeba contamination, but doesn’t voice it. He knows the Eridian already feels bad about his ammonia burns and pushing him off the pain meds.’
Or: Grace and Rocky run into an unfortunate complication when getting ready to execute their plan to escape planet Adrian.
