As the years pass in exile, he finds himself plagued by knowledge that comes from the same maybe-past or maybe-future that wasn’t quite Mydei’s and yet was.

Summary
Obito arrives a few moments earlier when Rin jumps in front of Kakashi’s chidori. He’s still too late to save her, but he’s in time to watch the sequence of events that makes Kakashi shatter. Instead of returning to Madara, he chooses to live by his own mantra and refuses to abandon his friend in his time of need. Obito returns to Konoha with Kakashi, and this results in just a few unintended consequences. One of them being his insistence that he should be allowed to care for his late sensei’s orphan son, no matter what the Sandaime might say about the matter. He’s not quite sure how Kakashi becoming his unofficial co-parent fits into this, but he’ll figure it out eventually.

Khaslana whines. He is no longer Phainon and Aedes Elysiae is nothing more than a pile of ash, but for Mydei, he can pretend. So he pushes past the renewed sting of loss, ignores his guilt, ignores everything except for the great, unending ocean that is his love for Mydei. He harnesses millennia of yearning and lust, sends a nonsensical prayer to the universe for forgiveness, and gives himself over to the waves.
Hesitation gone, Khaslana rolls on top of Mydei, hands on either side of his head and legs bracketing his hips. He pushes himself up just enough to see Mydei’s entire face.
“Everything,” he breathes, and he swears Mydei shivers at it. “I want everything you’ll give me and more.”

In an early cycle of the Eternal Recurrence, Khaslana indulges. Pretending to be this cycle's Phainon, he takes a risk and seeks out Mydeimos. He knows he is selfish for doing this, for needing this, but it has been so long and he misses Mydei so much. If this is all he can have, he will do what he can to have Mydei for one more night.

When it comes to predatory, soul-sucking gacha games, Cosmic Impact Rail Zero was probably the worst of the worst. Did it have incredible characters? Yes. An engaging storyline? Double yes. Did it make Mydei want to blow his entire paycheck on weapons and skins and more rolls? Of course it did.
But it also killed off basically every character in the game, including the crown prince that shared Mydei's name– Mydeimos the Undying, Son of Gorgo. How the hell was that even possible?! He literally had undying in his title!?
So when the developers ask for feedback, Mydei goes off on a heated tangent– and finds himself reincarnated as his namesake. You know– the doomed prince, destined for a life of hardship? Destined to die?
Not if Mydei has anything to say about it.

Beside them, Tribbie finally pops up from where she’s been studying their joined hands. “What Snowy said is true!” she proclaims in a voice far too cheerful for their current situation. “He and De are one hundred percent stuck to each other.”
While out on patrol, Mydei and Phainon get hit with a curse that binds their hands together.

Ptolemy scoffs, kicking lightly at the dirt. “Guess who has the extraordinary pleasure of being assigned the babysitting duty to the dumbass trio over here?” He rolls his eyes with a sharp sigh. “Not Peucesta, clearly. Lucky bastard.”
“Don’t lump me in with them,” Hephaestion protests. Ridiculous. Everyone knows who instigates the fights just as often as Phainon and Mydei.
“We don’t need babysitting,” Phainon says at the same time, words muffled as Mydei’s hand smashes his head into the ground, resuming their fight now that Ptolemy is distracted. Phainon almost bites down on the dirt by accident.

“He’s not exactly a friend-” Phainon had rubbed the back of his neck, a bead of sweat rolling down his forehead.
Mydei had groaned, giving Phainon a light slap on the back before turning to her, speaking plainly.
“I’m his betrothed.”
Phainon takes Mydei back to Aedes Elysiae to celebrate their engagement.
