Summary
When Sam falls into the Nexa by MERLYN 8mm Shower Door enclosure, his memory might be alright – but his mind's definitely not. AKA: After a traumatic event (Nexa accident & head injury) Sam develops PTSD related to past traumatic events in his life and his sleep is plagued by vivid nightmares. Jonathan helps him get through the night(s) and accidentally discovers feelings for his 'least favorite employee'.

“Nightmares,” I blurt out before I stop myself. “I don’t want to go to sleep because I’ve got those terrible nightmares. It has nothing to do with you. I’m not afraid you’ll take advantage of me or anything, I just don't want to fall asleep. Like in general.”
He stops in his tracks. "So that is why you're roaming my house like a ghost every night."
I didn't know he knew. "Kinda. Yeah."

“Why?” I manage and this time it sounds almost normal.
Jonathan’s brows form an expression I don’t have words for. “Actually, I don’t know, Samwise.” Uh-oh, this is going to be bad. I can already tell both from the use of my full name and from his tone. “Practically no reason. Other than you seemed to have a stroke in my kitchen when your speech got all weird and after that you passed out on me and I'm no expert but your speech still sounds like you’ve just had a stroke. And then there's the tiny detail that you have a concussion and I was instructed to watch over you.”

In the book, Sam's recovery was pretty much smooth sailing. So I decided to write an alternative scenario where he experiences complications during his recovery.
