Add to that the almost daily struggles with the demons of his past, the unceasing addictions and the eternal mystery that is Scaramouche – and Kazuha is not sure he will make it to the end of the year unscathed.

“How about…” Kazuha’s eyes find and capture his, and Scaramouche cannot find it in himself to struggle against their pull. The next words that leave Kazuha’s mouth are dripping honey, the sultry tone of his voice ringing in Scaramouche’s ears, “I shouldn’t kiss you.”
Scaramouche blinks. “You bet you shouldn’t,” he says dumbly.
“No, I’m afraid you misunderstand me,” the smile turns wicked, the voice sensual and the hooded eyes fiery. “I should not kiss you. That’s the debate topic I choose. What is your argument?”
What the fuck. What the actual— This has to be against the rules. Or maybe even the law. Surely, it is noted down in the penal code somewhere along the winding paragraphs about crimes of sexual nature.

All Goro Akechi wanted was to be a well-respected detective. If that meant enduring a slew of meaningless fluff cases assigned by the higher-ups, so be it. If it meant spending his free time chasing after baseless rumors about a high school gang of self-described "social reformers", fine.
