Summary
It’s something they’ve always done. After any big fight, any bad day or botched mission, the six of them end up sleeping piled together. Sometimes they crowd into Kai’s room, too many people in a too small bed to truly be comfortable. Others, they fall asleep in a pile on the floor, made up of blankets and pillows and personal stuffed animals they all swear that they don't sleep with anymore. It’s their thing and it started all those years ago, when they first brought Lloyd into their Monastery.

There was a time that Kai thought time healed all wounds, but as he was forced to watch Lloyd be haunted by incoherent visions the same way he had been haunted by a vengeful ghost, he was starting to think that time just changed the way wounds looked.

Nya nodded, stepping away from the punching bag, presumably to go and spot for Kai while he worked out his feelings before she said, "that tournament was…has Lloyd talked to you at all?"
And that, that made Kai go still; he had seen Lloyd in passing, he was kind of hard to miss with the white that he had traded for his signature green, but with her saying that made him realize two things.
That Lloyd hadn't said a word to him since he returned, and that something happened to him during the tournament that Nya couldn't break through.

Forget everything you know about the series. There will be heavy canon divergence—especially in later installments. Changes to character motivations, backstories, and the general maturity of the series will all be implemented. I seek to expand on the world and characters as much as I can and make everything flow smoothly, while adding new elements to keep the story exciting. I promise, this fic is not a direct copy-paste of the show. I will keep in certain dialogues from the show, but this is a rewrite, not a retelling.

It’s so loud. So loud. It’s all Nya can hear, the sea wailing at her absence. She understands that it is lonely, she understands that she will forever be a part of it, physical body or no, but can’t it just stop wailing.
It’s deafening, every moment of the day, so much so that she spends most of her time curled up in bed, a pillow pressed over her ears as if that would stop the incessant noise.
Ever since she’s come back, her brother, Kai, has hardly left her alone. He’s right beside her at almost all times. She doesn’t mind.
Nya doesn’t tell him about the screaming, about the horrid, screeching voice of the sea, because she sees what a mess he is and she knows how much worse it would make him. The screaming hurts, makes her feel like she is only ever half present, but she can handle it. She can tough it out.

The Crossroads. Interesting. It seemed like it would grow into a sizeable city, filled with people and cultures from all the realms. Maybe one day he would visit, when he could handle a simple conversation with someone or if he didn’t have to hide his identity. Maybe.
