The tomb door slammed shut. A solemn oath of condemnation. Sealing the fates of the serpentine still trapped within.
Skales frantically slithered towards it anyways. Even though he was nowhere near fast nor strong enough to prevent its closing.
He let out a scream, desperation mixed with sheer horror. He clawed at the door. His vision blurred as he begged for release. It felt like his lungs weren't getting enough oxygen. Were they? He couldn't tell, couldn't focus.
How had this happened again? How, despite everything he had done, had he ended up once again trapped in a tomb?
...
Selma looked at him with worry, but there was suprisingly no anger in her stare. All he could see was warmth and concern.
When she gently guided him away, he didn't resist. Skales followed her to one of the corners of the tomb.
