Why did he have to get Laurent for Secret Santa? What the fuck did you get the person you had a giant crush on for Christmas when he made it his mission to say something derisive about everything, just for fun?
Damen’s feelings were distracting at the best of times let alone when alcohol got involved. It didn’t help that Laurent was unobtainable, Damen was fairly certain he had crushing the hopes of men on his CV under special talents and interests.

Nikandros would eventually come to the conclusion (the same conclusion his parents had reached some fifteen years earlier) that the only saving grace with his Words, was that they were in Veretian and he lived in Akielos where the number of people who could read Veretian was fairly small.

Summary
On a diplomatic trip to Vere, Damen finds himself the victim of a coup orchestrated by the Regent and his brother, Kastor. He manages to escape into the forest, but before he passes out he is rescued by a mysterious figure on horseback.
When Damen awakens he finds out he is the prisoner of the missing Prince Laurent of Vere. Not only is the prince alive, but he is cursed to a monstrous form and forced to hide in his manor with all those who supported him cursed as well.
Damen is determined to escape from his ice cold captor. But as circumstances grow grave and Laurent's true nature is slowly revealed to Damen, he realizes perhaps Laurent might not be as beastly as he seems.

Summary
The two biggest (and baddest) gangs, Akielos and Vere, have kept an uneasy peace for 6 years, after a violent turf war. When Auguste, the Veretian head was killed among the fighting, an agreement came out of it. Akielos would run the bottom half of the city, and Vere the top half. Right when Laurent is set to take over he is forced to run for his life. He ends up in Akielos territory where he plans to infiltrate the group, and convince the leader to help them (even if that means working in his nightclub as a skimpily dressed waiter).

Summary
Laurent sighs as he finds himself in detention yet again but he is sitting beside Damen, his older brother’s hot best friend so there was that. Across the room Jord and Lazar were all but bouncing out of their seats making some obscene gestures in reference to Damen thanks to Laurent’s well-known crush on him. Well, well known to everyone but Damen and Auguste of course. He sits back in his seat and considers his options.
While he thinks he runs the tongue ring no one- aside from his friends- knew he had between his teeth, contemplating the best way to go about this. “You have a tongue piercing?” Damen asks, interrupting Laurent’s thoughts and deciding how this was going to go for himself.

Our heroes, in various disguises from Pets to islanders, experience treachery, kidnapping, and the discovery of a long lost relative. Along the way, Auguste yearns for Damen, Damen reconciles with Nik, Laurent has his first crush and learns he is much more than a bookish boy.
Part Two moves ahead four years. The landscape will start in Paradiso, move on to Marlas, Ios and Arles. Part Three will conclude in the dangerous court of the Vaskian Empress. This is a tale of adventure, intrigue and heroics, with side dishes of pining and sweet slow burns, with Damen and Laurent having one that simmers long before igniting.
