Summary
Of the tales and figures come down to us from the Elder Days, few have matched the deeds and works of Celebrimbor, the Heir of Fëanor and the Ringmaker. Of his works the Elves hold most in reverence the Elessar, the Elf Stone, which brought forth life and growth amid the tales of ruin and decay. Of its history was made the Lay of the Elessar, which is remembered still by the wandering companies of the Eldar.

Summary
Bilbo Baggins has found himself tasked with something grand: a translation of an ancient prophecy. But will he be able to do it on his own? Help is always available in Elrond's house for an inquisitive Hobbit.
This work is for bunn, since she inspired me with her own series.

Summary
Bilbo has returned from his journey to Erebor and Dale, and he has settled into life in Rivendell. He's begun to take an interest in learning about lore beyond what he already knows. He talks with Elrond about some odd inscriptions he finds, and asks the age-old question: why didn't the Eagles fly him to the Mountain?

Summary
This is a poem about the dwellings of the Valar based heavily on the Vafþrúðnismál from the Poetic Edda. A mysterious wanderer comes to a mysterious hall and is asked much by a mysterious doorward. The meter is based on the Voluspa again.

Hither Lands by bunn
Fandom: The Silmarillion and other histories of Middle-Earth - J. R. R. Tolkien
29 Dec 2018
Summary
Maglor’s fate as per the published Silmarillion was to wander alone along the shore, singing in pain and regret. That version is the one that Christopher Tolkien created by making a slight amend to reconcile Elrond as a child with the Sons of Fëanor, with Elrond from Lord of the Rings, the Herald of Gil-galad.
This series occurs in an adjacent shade of Arda, and tells the story as per Tolkien’s version of the Silmarillion from 1937, which is slightly different to the published Silmarillion:
Yet not all the Eldalie were willing to forsake the Hither Lands where they had long suffered and long dwelt; and some lingered many an age in the West and North, and especially in the western isles and in the Land of Leithien. And among these were Maglor, as hath been told; and with him for a while was Elrond Halfelven, who chose, as was granted to him, to be among the Elf-kindred.

Discussions upon Translations from the Elvish by bunn
Fandom: The Hobbit - J. R. R. Tolkien, The Lord of the Rings - J. R. R. Tolkien, The Silmarillion and other histories of Middle-Earth - J. R. R. Tolkien

Summary
Stories about history and transmission of story in Middle-earth focussing on Bilbo Baggins in later life; his role as a scholar and Elf-friend after his adventure, and the writing that he did in Rivendell: 'Translations from the Elvish'; a work of great scholarship, compiled with the help of the Elves of Rivendell, which later passed to Elanor Gamgee and from there to Gondor. Some of the stories from the Silmarillion and the History of Middle-earth series are here re-told in a more hobbitish form.
This series has no overall arc and will probably never be marked complete. Each of the stories is designed to stand alone, and I endeavour to make them canon-compliant in so far as that is possible.

War of Wrath by bunn
Fandom: The Silmarillion and other histories of Middle-Earth - J. R. R. Tolkien

Summary
These stories are all about the War of Wrath period, but were written at different times with different protagonists, and don't have to be read in any particular order. I'm trying to keep them more or less in chronological order.
My novel-length work Quenta Narquelion covers the Eastern front, the Feanorians and Belegost in some detail, but I have not included it in this series as it is slightly canon-divergent, being narrated by Invisible Ghost Feanor.
