Hua Cheng just glared at him, singular eye glowing red.
“Yeah, yeah,” Feng Xin sighed. “Save some of that for Pei Ming. I’m just the guy he turned to to fix his fuck-up.”
“Oh, believe me, I’ve saved a lot for Pei Ming,” Hua Cheng promised in a voice that sent chills down Feng Xin’s spine. Then, he tossed his dice and the two of them vanished in a flash.
The last thing Feng Xin was expecting when they arrived was to be met with an armful of Xie Lian and a pair of lips pressed to his own.
When a mission went wrong, Xie Lian forgot everything past his first ascension, including the fact that he broke up with Feng Xin and Mu Qing. In the process, old feelings were dredged up, new feelings were discovered, and Xie Lian remembered what it was like when he believed in forever.

Hua Cheng took a step towards the bed and leaned closer, his inky eyes studying him closely. After a moment he sighed and flopped on the bed next to him, a hand lazily reaching up to Xie Lian's head and scratching it gently.
"Who am I kidding, we both know I'm going to keep you. I don't even get why...there's just something about you that won't let me throw you out the door."
Unable to say anything Xie Lian tilted his head slightly and watched as the corner of the ghost's thin lips arched a little. It was such an endearing look.

Summary
His hands brushed over what seemed like soft sheets on a mattress and then immediately came to a brusque halt when they touched something unmistakable.
Skin. The bare skin of someone's hand just mere inches away from him. His eyes flew open and the sight they were met with shocked him frozen.
On a nice bed, covered in sheets finer than anything he ever owned in his mortal life, resting on a pillow so close he could feel the warmth seeping from his body, was Xie Lian. Asleep, relaxed, a soft smile adorning his slightly parted lips, Xie Lian was sleeping with a peaceful expression, something that Wuming hadn't seen on him for many long years.
or: Hua Cheng and Xie Lian both fall victim to the memory monster. A barely out of Yong'an Wuming wakes up next to pre-third ascension Xie Lian and doesn't exactly know how to deal with that.

After coming back from dispersion Hua Cheng doesn't remember finding Xie Lian again on Mount Yujun nor anything that happened afterwards. When unexpectedly his god shows up at Paradise Manor hugging him and crying that he missed him Hua Cheng is a little surprised (he panicks).

The second time Hua Cheng meets the love of his life he’s pretty sure he’s hallucinating. How else to explain the gasp of “San Lang!” as Xie Lian’s face comes into blurry view just above him. It’s an effect of the drug he thinks, or maybe the blood loss, or hell, maybe both. It’s raining, just like last time, and he can feel the cold droplets falling onto his skin, but it’s a distant muzzy sensation, like the stone of the alley pressing against his back and legs, like the pain in his side and the blood pooling between his fingers, like the warm hands now running across his skin. But those are imaginary, remembered. They have to be.
There’s no way that Xie Lian is actually here.
