Summary
Kanrik didn't mean to be friends with her. He didn't mean to feel indebted to her. He most certainly never, ever, meant to fall in love with her as he was trying to place himself as the new leader of the Thieves Guild.

Summary
"There were a million things Mabel could have said. She could have asked him something mundane and business related that he wouldn’t question, like to check his car tomorrow for the matchbox in case she just dropped it, or to remind her details of what he’d seen on the subway. She could have pretended to have accidentally sent him a text she meant for someone else. She could have reminded him that the things she’d confessed on Coney Island, what little he may have gleaned, was not for public consumption and if he leaked it to anyone, he’d be wishing he were back in the safety of jail. She didn't write any of them.
Mabel: It’s been a really hard night. I just needed to talk to someone. Is that okay?"
Mabel texts Theo during a rough and overwhelmingly lonely night.

"'Where is he?'
The question hung in the air. It was a threat, an accusation, a weapon, all at the same time. But it was also something fearful and vulnerable that Damian could only hope was as well hidden as he was trying to keep it. Something that felt far too much like a plea.
Damian planted his feet in the floor and tightened his grip on the blade. Anything to hide his desperation from the man who could see through near everything."
Damian finally confronts Clark Kent about Jon being missing. Because he has to put his hurt and anger somewhere, and it might as well be the Man of Steel.
