“We’ve said it before, but every inch of you is beautiful, Rumi.” The taller woman’s eyes were glistening, and Zoey understood her emotion. The thought of Rumi shutting them out again, of suffering by herself and feeling that she had no one to lean on, made Zoey’s eyes brim with tears as well.
Before she and Mira could move closer and envelop their girlfriend into a teary hug, however, Rumi took her hands back, placing one on her hip and pinching the bridge of her nose with the other.

Silky smooth, braided purple hair. Cute little mailcap. Glistening scars peer out from the corners of her sleeves, escaping from view when her cuffs fall right back over when she moves.
“Could you sign our marriage papers?” Zoey and Mira blurt out in unison.
“What?” Rumi pauses.
“Huh?” Zoey stares at Rumi unblinkingly.
“Ignore her,” Mira waves Zoey off with a small flick of her wrist, gathering her dignity. She offers a hand to shake. “I’m Mira, and this is my wife, Zoey.” Mira clears her throat and circles back to Rumi’s question.
“Sure. Do you have a pen?”
Rumi tucks the parcel and the letters under her arm and takes Mira’s hand, shaking it gently.
“I do!” Rumi smiles, and both of them audibly think, "Fuck," as she reaches into her inner breast pocket for a pen. “I’m Rumi. I’ll be in charge of the mail for your street from now on.”
Mira takes her pen. Zoey has not blinked once.

After another beat, Rumi decides to press a little harder, asking, “Um, three minutes, right?”
“Uh-huh,” Mira lazily agrees, tipping her head so it briefly knocks into Rumi’s. “Is it gonna take you three minutes to unload the dishwasher?”
“There are a lot of dishes,” Rumi mutters, grinning at the soft laugh Mira lets out, breath brushing over her ear. “Let me know when three minutes go by. We’ll move after that.”
“You want me to count?” Mira asks, sounding almost amused. “Can you...not count to one-eighty?”
Rumi rolls her eyes, reaching behind her to poke Mira between the ribs. “I want you to do it for me. Can you do that for me?”
Mira goes quiet so quickly it almost feels like whiplash. Rumi swears she can feel the air shift as soon as the words leave her mouth, like a switch has been flipped. Softly, Mira murmurs, “Yeah. Okay.”
(or, rumi finds a surefire way to keep her girlfriend's unenriched herding dog tendencies from spiraling out of control)

Mira tugs gently at the hair beneath her fingers. "Uh uh, princess, you have to get up. We're not sleeping on the couch tonight."
"Why not?" Rumi whines, flipping over again so she can tuck her face against Zoey's tummy this time. "S'comfy."
Zoey looks at Mira helplessly, cheeks flushing at the apples because she still flusters under Rumi's attention despite reaching for it eagerly with both hands. Her hand runs down Rumi's shoulder and her brows flex together like she might agree just because Rumi wants it.
"No," Mira says both to her and Rumi, her lips twitching into a fond little smile. "We have a king sized bed for a reason."
But Rumi is insistent as she burrows deeper into Zoey's middle. It's a new trait to her lately—the petulance and borderline bratty behavior, the no's with huge shit eating grins, the definite 'rage baiting' like Zoey likes to call it—and Mira will never admit it out loud but she is in love with the new shade in the same way she is with the whirling patterns.
Or, Rumi is lowkey highkey a brat and they love her anyway

“Feel that, baby? That’s all for you.” Rumi purrs as she watches Mira nuzzle against her crotch, mouth dropping open to pant softly, whining at the hardness tucked behind layers of clothes.
“Mine.” Mira groans as her hands settle on Rumi’s hips, fingers curling along the leather belt and the soft cotton of her girlfriend’s clothes.

Summary
Mira turned out to be a loot goblin, preferring to drop with less players and spend her time collecting weapons. It was cute, honestly. Zoey enjoyed watching them figure out which weapons they liked the most.
It was almost as cute as the heart eyes Mira made the first time Rumi started up a two-person dance she'd bought (because Rumi bought everything and anything) and Mira joined it. The smile slowly growing on her face as Stupid in Love played and the digital Rumi and Mira danced together and made a heart together made Zoey grin in response.
Or, Zoey gets the girls playing Fornite, Mira gets soft over a silly dance, and Zoey and Rumi decide to do something about it as a surprise.
