To escape the hectic atmosphere in Tokyo, with reporters and paparazzi following Haru's every move, the two return to Iwatobi to continue Haru's rehab.
Back in their beloved hometown, the two find a safe haven there, as well as with each other. Their bond remains the solid anchor that grounds them both, but shifting feelings start to come into play. Makoto has always loved Haru, this was a fact he had known for a long time. Yet, a new kind of love blossomed within him at the coming of spring, or perhaps...it had been there for a long time, but Makoto had never been able to see it this clearly before. Until now.

It’s disgustingly easy to forget what this is all in service of when seeing Garma like this everyday, disturbingly easy to forget who exactly he is when Char’s living and eating with him like he’s just another person, like they’re just fellow soldiers in training going through the hardships of the military academy together just like everyone else here - then they’ll step into the cafeteria and the younger enrollees will swarm him, they’ll discuss the sanitized version of Zeon Zum Deikun in class, Garma will have to leave the academy to attend a public event and Char will catch a glimpse of his face in a newspaper after.
