Summary
Vessel has known II since they were teenagers. After seven years together, their lives are tangled in ways he barely notices until II is gone. His clothes are still in the wardrobe, his favorite tea is still in the cupboard. Vessel keeps turning toward the left side of the couch, forgetting for a moment that there's no one there.
II died on their anniversary, leaving Vessel with memories he can't bear to revisit and questions he can't stop asking. At the studio, fans leave fresh flowers beneath photographs of his masked face. At home, III and IV keep showing up, trying to care for their friend while grieving someone they loved too.
Vessel tries to let them, but there are things he can only say when he's alone.
At three in the morning, beneath every full moon, he recreates the bath he prepared for II. Small candles, lavender and chamomile, rose petals drifting through shimmering blue water. He sits beside it and talks to him. Eventually, he starts praying to a god he doesn't believe in, asking for one more chance to hear II's voice.
Then, one night, Vessel gets into the water.
And something answers.

Summary
“This is just what I need,” II said, taking in a deep breath. Trying to let go. Like those anger management sessions taught him when he had fuck all else to do inside. “Thank you for packing my stuff for me. Now I just want my cat.”
Right on time, Smoke meowed from the carrier, and II brushed past III, bending down to see the tiny black cat on the pavement, her green eyes blinking up at him. He felt bad taking her away from her home of the past four years, but she’d been his cat before they’d moved in with IV. He figured he could be selfish in this, considering the circumstances.
“Two,” IV started softly, clearing his throat, awkwardly leaning against the fence. His soft voice, the one II fell in love with before he’d fucked it all up. “I don’t want you to think you can’t live here.”
“I can’t live here,” II said. “No room in the bed now, is there?”
After a break up, a stint in prison, and a betrayal from his closest friend, II buys a dilapidated house on the English coast. After a series of storms, his spiralling isolation is quickly thwarted by the arrival of the strangest creature he's ever met.
