“Dux Gladiorum,” The Imperator’s voice was hot and heavy against her neck, “You have betrayed me.”
Hysilens tried to back away instinctively, but Cerydra’s hand hooked under her jaw and pulled her back firmly. “Imperator- I- I can explain-” Hysilens felt the panic rising in her chest, her breathing shaking as Cerydra’s face leaned closer to hers, cocked slightly. She let out a haughty chuckle before pressing a finger to Hysilens’ lips.
“There is no explanation you can provide before the Law. You will be judged and punished before my armies accordingly,” The Imperator’s breath warmed Hysilens’ neck, the heat and moisture from her mouth tickling her ear, “Not with your life, but with your body. I shall make an example of you.” Cerdyra’s lips brushed against her ear, Hysilens’ let out a fearful whining noise.
“Imperator, I- I have already pledged my body to you…”(Transfem) Cerydra decides to take her punishments to the extreme

The woman’s eyes widened, and her hand reached out, not quite touching Rumi, but close. “Not that you’re not beautiful, because wow, you-” She stopped, a look of realisation crossed her face “-I mean, no, wait, no, you are beautiful, but I wasn’t hitting on you, I have a girlfriend-”
Rumi ignored her chest squeezing.
“-A stunning girlfriend, Mira. I mentioned her, right? My girlfriend Mira-” The woman stopped abruptly and lowered her head down into her arms. “Jeez, Zoey, stop rambling at the deaf woman.” It was muffled, but Rumi heard it.
Silenced by grief, Rumi’s world is transformed when she crosses paths with Mira and Zoey, who guide her toward a voice she thought was lost forever.

Mira with Zoey holding her arm in a death grip: Hey, my girlfriend saw you from across the record shop, and we really dig your vibe. Can we buy you a vinyl?

Summary
Jinu should have known better than to take what wasn’t his. He should have also taken into consideration that, in one way or another, they would catch them — catch Rumi.
Zoey and Mira not only catch Rumi, but unearth in the process an entire generation of bloodshed and lies that their Elders worked tirelessly to hide behind history books and silence.
