“No, Ilya, stay.” The last word came out as a whine.
“Why is he calling you Ilya?” Pike asked.
"Why is he asking you to stay?” Hollander’s mom followed.
Ilya shrugged. “How would I know?”
Hollander lifted his arm out, as if reaching for Ilya. “Because I want him to stay.” It was said in a tone that seemed to say, 'obviously'.
“Shane,” Hollander’s dad started. “Um- what’s going on? I thought we hated Rozanov.” He seemed to realise what he’d said and glanced at Ilya. “Sorry.”
“Is fine.”
"No, I don't hate him. I love him."
Cliff's jaw was firmly hanging open, and he didn't think it was going to move anytime today. He felt as if he'd been punched in the stomach, all the air ripped away from his lungs.
"Am I dreaming?" Cliff muttered to himself.
Pike let out a strained laugh. "I think someone spiked my coffee this morning."

Tells her that if the numbers and the shapes and images in her mind hurt so bad then she should build them, should give them form so that they can finally leave her alone.
Jarvis is the one who finally teaches her how to breathe.
Or
Toni Stark grows up with the tale of Icarus swirling in the back of her mind. Instead of taking it as a precautionary tale about hubris and overreaching she decides it's more about the limitations of wax.
Years later when she builds herself wings of her own she makes sure to build them out of better material.

Yancy lives through the Knifehead attack, and the Becket Brothers recover to fight on in Gipsy Danger - though not without consequences. When the Jaeger program is decommissioned, they're packed off to Hong Kong with everyone else.
Mako restores a different Jaeger, and Operation Pitfall is much more of a success.
Cancelling the apocalypse doesn't mean that things are over, though.

Written for the Avengers kink meme: "Because of hectic lifestyle and constant danger while on extended missions, Clint and/or Natasha is an exceptionally light sleeper. Any kind of gentle stimulus wakes him/her/them up. And given the nature of Avengers Tower, there are a lot of people bouncing around at all hours."
At the best of times, Natasha isn't a heavy sleeper. At the Tower, it seems she can barely get through a night.

Summary
Steve takes things like personal responsibility and respect seriously. Tony's got people he pays to take care of that kind of thing, and anyway, he's pretty sure that he's going to die of some exotic disease in his workshop, because Dummy's still a little spotty about what is 'clean' enough to put on an open wound. The rest of the Avengers are in this for personal gain, except for Clint, he just enjoys being a dick.
And some things shouldn't be a chore.
