Summary
Glaring at the cafe, Tony tried not to panic.
Because in that cafe sat Steve Rogers aka Captain America. Leader of the Avengers. The superheroes celebrated by the world for winning against an Alien Invasion and protecting the fine people from catastrophes and villains.
Quite successfully, he might add.
The only one they did not seem to be able to nail down was Iron Man. An international terrorist. A flying weapon that left a path of destruction wherever he went. A hacker that every government trembled before.
In other words, Tony’s side business.
This is an "Iron Man is a Supervillain AU" and an "Iron Man and Captain America are forced to plan Rhodey and Sam's wedding AU".

Darcy's at Target, cart full of ornaments, tinsel, and decorations, musing on whether Natasha likes Twix Santas or not. Clint can be seen demolishing Reeses Trees by the truckload and Bruce has a soft spot for Almond Roca, but she doesn't know if Natasha even really craves candy. Or maybe she's more into Russian sweets? Her thoughts stray to Bucky, as the often do, when she realizes this is really his first Christmas out from Hydra's control and not on the run. When was the last time Bucky celebrated a Christmas? Before the war? It makes her chest ache.
Steve is off at an unspecified location on an unspecified mission for an unspecified amount of time, but Darcy has the impression that it'll go well into January. So what is Bucky going to do? Skulk around the tower? Pretend everything's fine? Disappear to Brooklyn for a few days and mourn over how different is home is? Not fucking happening.
Darcy straightens her shoulders, putting on her game face. Operation Give Bucky Barnes a Good Christmas is a fucking go.

After remembering they were responsible for the deaths of Howard and Maria Stark, Bucky and the Soldier start watching over Tony in a desperate attempt to redeem themselves. When the Avengers get ready to raid the Hydra base that's housing Loki's scepter, they're there to intervene.
Of course, they didn't expect to end up at Stark Tower, living alongside a bunch of superheroes, and they certainly didn't think they'd end up falling in love with Tony Stark. Especially since the man still doesn't know what they've done.

Summary
Where did Hydra come from? An idea? A twisted dream? For an organization that spans centuries, it kept relatively quiet until contemporary times.
The Super Soldier serum wasn't dreamt up over night, but was the product of numerous experiments both unethical and violent over the course of the century. It was going to be the end of all conflicts between good and evil. Scientists died trying to determine the next level of the serum, only for it to be stolen by enemies. Back and forth until one side had the advantage.
Mabel Foster was everything the ideal woman should be in 1914. She was well brought-up, wealthy, educated and the heiress to a large fortune. When her father died in a much publicized U-boat attack by the Germans, Mabel made a decision that changed the course of history by enlisting in the French Army during WWI. After an ambush gone bad, Mabel found herself captured by an early group of Hydra.
100 years later she's discovered in a desolate Hydra base and is taken by the Avengers for safe-keeping and questioning. Little do they realize that all of their destinies and pasts are directly connected through the nest that Hydra weaved.

This series was begun before much was known about T’Challa and Shuri. Accordingly, Shuri has been aged up.

The Asset called the creatures 'Soft Pills', because he had to take pills often enough that he recognized the shape. He knew there was another name for them, something like 'Sum', but no one ever told him.
He liked the soft pills. They were warm and nice to touch and made pleasant noises. He didn't have one of his own, but that was reasonable. He didn't have a soul, so how could he have a Soulmate? The little creatures appeared for humans; not weapons. But sometimes, if he'd done very, very well on a mission, one of his Handlers would let him hold their pill for a little while.
