Summary
As someone who was sent to Happy Redemption Academy due to traumas of her past and newer ones causing her to transfer programs, making solid connections with others has always been difficult for Vaggie. It was why she walked around with her heart armored at all times. She promised to herself that she would never let herself be sensitive or naive enough to let someone in ever again.
But the universe knew what it was doing putting Charlie, the daughter of her new principal who seemed to be a walking personification of sunshine, in her life. And in all honestly? Vaggie didn't mind the more she got to know her.
... And she couldn't tell if she was excited for it, or absolutely fucking terrified.

The working title for this was “I wanted to end pride month with a bang” and I chose to share that with y’all, ‘cause it was, frankly, brilliant.I had this in my drafts, workshopping it, adding on new details, and now it’s gone—but, y’know, one of the hardest pieces of writing advice I’ve ever taken to heart is that when a scene, or the words, or the moment isn’t working, the best thing you can do is delete every fucking word you’re struggling with and start from scratch.

Summary
Charlie explains the Sins to Vaggie using the same words her mother did when she explained them to her: how Sin is so deeply tied to Hell that a soul born from the King and Queen has to be tainted by it.
Her demon form amplifies them all: Pride, Wrath, Envy, Gluttony, Sloth, Greed, Lust. They come hand in hand, feed on each other, want nothing else but indulge in themselves. It's what Sin does.
Charlie explains it all to Vaggie while they're sitting on the bed, and she realizes it's not the most entertaining conversation after the make out session they just had, but her horns and tail are out and it's her fault for postponing this talk for so long.

or, Charlie is the Princess of Hell, and therefore she's bound to reflect the Sins that make up Hell itself.
It's not easy to come to terms with the Demon growing inside of you.

Summary
When faced with the worst the world could offer, you have a choice. In the moment, you may not even know you're making it.
You can respond to the darkness with bitter apathy; this was the worst choice of all. You do nothing, turn your back, and decide you and your own will remain above it all.
Another response, seen as the best response, is to decide to change it, to work the system to make things better. In another universe, Charlie would've taken that choice in a heartbeat, become Hell's bleeding heart, been oblivious to the hurt she may cause. In doing this, she would have to rein in her power, make a better world by being good and kind.
But in this universe, Charlie takes another option, one that may blow up in her face if she is not careful. She has seen the darkness of the world, and it lit a flame of rage in her heart. She got smarter, she grew skilled, and she decided if the system was put to get her, she would make it her life's work to destroy the system.

Soul contracts. Tying one's essence to another and ensuring that it cannot escape. Trapping the contractee into a cage with no way out. The other, equally horrible option is to have a soul stolen from the one it belonged to. Leaving them to rot with someone who could exploit them to their own ends.
Out of the two evils, Vaggie would rather take the former. With someone she knows well, of course. The Princess of Hell.
But said princess is appalled by the idea. In her desperation to find a solution to this problem, she stumbles across an old ritual that her father had made, in Hell's infancy.
