Summary
The death of Drusilla triggered events that Buffy nor her friends could have ever predicted.
Spike loses the center of his world, Angelus loses patience, and Buffy Summers loses the right to believe this war ends cleanly. What follows is not a story about redemption or justice, but about what happens when ancient monsters decide that death is too small a consequence for betrayal.
Angelus does not seek justice, and he does not offer mercy. What he offers is correction. With Spike at his side, bound by grief, rage, and a bond neither of them fully understands, Angelus sets out to reclaim what was taken; not by ending the Slayer’s life, but by reshaping it. Because death would be too simple, and forgiveness was never on the table.
As vengeance tightens into something darker and far more binding, lines are crossed that cannot be uncrossed, and identities are stripped down to what remains once choice no longer matters. In the end, there are no heroes left, only a family rebuilt in blood, bound together by what was taken and what was claimed in return.

The episode "Origin" never happened. No one but Angel knows who Connor really is. NFA happens, minus the Connor bits. The fic is set post-NFA in a post-apocalyptic world.
Focus is on Connor and Angel, with a good side of Spike. It's about fictional war and politics, derring-do and swashbucklingness, burdens of leadership, orders of command, warring factions, insubordination, that kind of thing, with a father and son at the heart of it.

Summary
In the wake of an unknown attack on the American Frontier and the subsequent loss of contact with the friends they still had stateside, Buffy and Xander sneak into the country and begin a long, dangerous journey to find old friends and the source of the near apocalypse before it spreads throughout the rest of the world.
*This takes place post series and was written as part of the Elysian Fields 2022 Road Trip Challenge.
Chapter one excerpt; "“Street repairs have obviously gone to shit,” he half joked as the car slowly crawled forward to avoid any damage the deep holes could inflict.
“Along with the rest of the country,” she bitterly added. It was true, the American infrastructure was hanging by a thread. She looked out the window, noting how lifeless the countryside was now. Life across the pond was still bustling and chaotic and she had easily immersed herself in it after the collapse of Sunnydale. Her heart twisted at the thought of the barren wasteland her home country was quickly turning into.

AU post-S5 of Angel in which Angel, Wesley, Gunn, Lorne, and Spike have been kicked out of Wolfram & Hart for plotting against the Senior Partners. Disorientated, cash-strapped, and still mourning the loss of Cordelia and Fred, they have set up as detectives once again in new offices. A soul-eating demon is creating mass-murderers all over LA and the new Angel Investigations is struggling to find a solution. Can they stop the creature without losing their own souls?
WARNINGS: Rape, violence, language, dark and violent happenings.
NB This version of the fic is as originally posted on my livejournal (although not originally written) without the actual rape scene (although the rape still takes place within the narrative). I wrote the scene, then decided it was redundant, and pulled it, and now so much time has passed that I can't decide if it is scaffolding and doesn't need to be in the story or is actually needed, so I'm leaving it up to you, Dear Reader, to decide which version works best for you.Bookmarked by Bespangled
