They are so small, weaker and even more fragile than he is, like the light of tiny flickering candles waiting to be snuffed out by the faintest breeze. They don't do much besides eat and cry, demanding her undivided attention at all times of the day, and yet Hyuna loves them more than anything.

Luka cannot understand why.
He glares, but the baby doesn't seem to understand his ire, simply staring up at him with eyes like his, wide and curious. The baby giggles, much to his confusion, smiling up at him despite the obvious dislike he is trying to convey to the little thing, and something odd stirs in his chest, warm like he'd swallowed a miniature sun.
His expression softens a little.
Perhaps he can understand, if only a little, why Hyuna seems to like them so much.
After escaping with Hyuna and unwillingly joining the rebellion, Luka learns to be human.

A rewrite of the story from Zenitsu’s point of view—filling in the blanks of Zenitsu’s past, my wild guess at his characteristics.
Canon divergence where Zenitsu is Tengen’s long-lost little brother (which would only be revealed after the Entertainment District).
This starts off after returning from the Mugen Train, with Zenitsu going on an assignment without Tanjiro and Inosuke.

Zenitsu tore off the blindfold the moment he was free, forcing himself to rely on his eyes again. The world’s colors felt deafening, overwhelming, but he would not return to darkness. Closing his eyes soothed him, yes…but choosing to see was an act of rebellion.All his life, Zenitsu had been pushed and persuaded by others to do the things he most feared. He knew he was a coward, hated himself for it. He might be crazy for meaning it, but Zenitsu wished to be a conscious coward.
He wished to know all the beautiful things in life before he dies—the sunset, beautiful flower orchards, and his sweet Nezuko-chan. He made that promise to himself after he escaped his father.

Zenitsu falls to his knees, pressing a hand to the wound, feeling the hot, slick blood seep between his fingers. His ribs ache—he’s pretty sure some of them are broken from an earlier blow—and he can barely keep his head up. His vision is swimming, his ears ringing, and his body is betraying him at the worst possible time.
The demon chuckles, its voice slithering through the darkness. “Pathetic little lightning boy. I expected more.”
Zenitsu coughs, and something warm and coppery fills his mouth. He spits blood onto the ground, gritting his teeth. He can’t die here. He won’t die here.
His fingers twitch, trying to summon the strength for Thunderclap and Flash. He just needs to get to his sword. If he can reach it, he can—
His knees buckle, and he collapses fully onto the dirt.
Chuntaro flutters in frantic circles above him, chirping desperately.
Zenitsu swallows down the bile in his throat and rasps, “Go… find Dad.”

He does not wish for it to be anyone else. This is but one of the reasons he retains his post. He misses the late Holy Father still, but Innocentius XIV is someone he cannot stop himself from serving. He feels, sometimes, as though he has been waiting for this man his whole life. He no longer speaks of resignation, but feels buoyed with spiritual energy, empowered by the Pope’s most divine leadership, by a life full of worship.
It is almost amusing, then, to hear the little sins of the Universal Church’s Supreme Pontiff.

With the protection of her contract and determination of her all controlling nature, Makima works in the shadows, every step, every event but a small domino piece in her plans, toppling at the exact time and place she had predicted an eternity prior. She must find her instrument of cleansing, her hero, the all powerful Chainsaw Devil, the only being of this world and all others that she could consider her equal.
Twenty eight years into her cycle, her efforts, while fruitful, did not yield her the desired end result - the ever lasting utopia for humanity, where all pain and negativity has been transcended by the humans she adored so much.
One day, an unremarkable yet violent distress call from an orphanage in Osaka gave her what she was looking for.
That and so much more.
This is the story of how Makima discovered her one and precious weakness.
