Kepler was patient. He halted, shooting a glance over his shoulder. “What is?”

“Go home, Maxwell. Take an early weekend.” He pauses for a second, then adds, “If you’d like to… see him, you have clearance from me.”
Maxwell nods, slowly. “Yes, sir.”
Then she turns and walks out of his office, packs up the computer she just unloaded from her bag, and leaves. Once her footsteps fade away, the only sound left is Kepler’s breathing, slow and perfectly steady.
