Summary
Neil smiled. One hand slid into Andrew’s hair, running through it. His other hand traced circles into the back of his neck. If any of the feather-light touches made Andrew shiver and melt against Neil more, neither mentioned it. Neil was content to stand and hold Andrew, letting him relax and share the burden of his own issues with someone else. The kitchen was warm and smelled dizzyingly of peach tea and cigarettes and mint.

Summary
On bad days that were manageable, sometimes Andrew would let Neil hold his hands and kiss the scars running up and down his arms. Sometimes it was helpful to let Neil love even the part of him that he deemed disgraceful, just as Neil allowed Andrew to do the same. On worse days, touching was unimaginable. The feeling of hot skin against his own was still the feeling of hot skin regardless of whose it was.

Summary
Neil could have sworn his heart stopped at that moment. He didn’t say a word, biting his lip to keep himself from speaking. Expectations were kept simple between them. Neil couldn’t even begin to imagine a situation if he thought it would make Andrew uncomfortable. He knew the same was true for Andrew. So the feeling of being allowed to hold Andrew so close was… a lot. Whether or not Andrew ever let Neil put his arm around him like this again, was unknown, but Neil wasn’t about to let something so precious go.

“I’m Neil,” he says next, undeterred by Andrew’s prior lack of responses. Neil pauses a few seconds and evidently must come to the albeit correct conclusion that Andrew will not reply unless prompted to and continues with “and you are?”
“Not friendly,” Andrew replies. He takes the very last drag of his cigarette and puts it out on the windowsill before tossing it in the small trash can he keeps in the corner for the explicit purpose of throwing away empty cigarette cartons and butts.
...
“No,” Neil agrees, smirking and looking down as if this is some sort of private joke Andrew let him in on. He watches Neil cough out a little laugh, and feels something akin to hatred bloom in his chest again. Neil looks back up at him, and his smile widens. “Neighborly, then.”

'Aaron should have known something was going on with Andrew when he had agreed to change their deal. It had taken Aaron months to build up the nerve to demand to be let out of it, determined to keep Katelyn no matter what. In the spring of their freshmen year at Palmetto, Aaron finally approached the subject, cornering Andrew in their shared kitchen and laying out his terms. He was not expecting Andrew’s counteroffer: sessions with Dobson once a week and an understanding that if anything happened with Katelyn, Andrew would step in.
Thoughts of Katelyn, of not having to hide her anymore, took up all the space in Aaron’s mind and he never wondered why Andrew would have relented so easily.

Kevin's childhood friend is transferred into their school out of the blue. Andrew doesn't care at all.
Neil isn’t much taller than Andrew himself but he’s definitely leaner. His auburn hair consists of short wavy strands, high cheekbones a little rosy like he just got exposed to cold. Wrapped in his long grey coat, he has no business looking this well groomed as if they’re in the middle of a cocktail party.
Pale blue eyes focus on Andrew momentarily as a barely there, hesitant smile appears on the guy’s full lips. Then Neil opens his mouth and says “Hello.” in the most fucking posh accent and hell no.
Andrew immediately scowls. “No.”
Neil merely shrugs, easy elegance showing itself in his movement. "Okay."
