Summary
The future is an incredibly finicky thing—that’s something The Amazing Karnak knows all too well. It’s never quite as simple as ‘here’s your life, that’s the way it will be.’ It’s every possible life, all the things that could happen, all depending on minuscule factors depending on a shift in the wind or when the right front axle of an ill-maintained roller coaster train decides it’s going to break or—apparently, as he’s learning right now—if Virgil the rat chews through Karnak’s wiring before or after the remaining five contestants head off to the afterlife.
In a twist of fate, all six members of the St. Cassian’s Chamber Choir are sent back to life, a change of plans they should by all means be celebrating. But for Ocean O’Connell Rosenberg, this second chance is less of a blessing and more of a curse. Can she right her wrongs and take to heart that life is not a game? Or will she crumble under the pressure she puts on herself?
