Sometimes, Kix wished he didn’t put so much work into noticing patterns in his patients’ files, or that he could brush things off as easily as Jesse. But he did, he couldn’t, and the facts of Anakin Skywalker’s case were undeniable: every time he met with the Chancellor of the Republic, he returned with headaches and bad dreams. It might be coincidence, of course—it likely was. But there was a chance that it wasn’t, and if that was so, Kix intended to find out why.
Kix’s simple investigation, its transformation into espionage, and how a few broken laws and noses poked into other people’s business saved the galaxy.

Echo woke slowly, with a warm, relaxed sluggishness that was very unfamiliar to him in his artificially short life. He opened his eyes, expecting to find the top of his bunk above him, perhaps with Crosshair’s lanky arm hanging over the side. Instead, Echo found an unfamiliar white ceiling. Discord trickled through his belly, a cold drop tainting his warm sleepiness. Still strangely drowsy and sluggish, he tried to sit up. He couldn’t.
And then he felt the restraints digging into his wrists. The strap wrapped tight around his chest.
The warmth evaporated, replaced by a searing flare of panic.
