Summary
Killing today was not in his original plan.
It wasn’t his fault everything turned out worse than anyone could’ve imagined.
He should’ve known better.
To sum it up: Jason kills, Bruce forgets how to communicate like a human being, and Jason isn’t exactly a pro in that area either. A lot of yelling, a lot of crying, call it an impromptu therapy session.

Jason Todd also tends to get shitfaced drunk in random bars in Crime Alley and do impulsive shit - like killing the Joker after he breaks out of Arkham for the thousandth time.
It's only then that Batman starts hunting him down.
But not for the reasons you might be thinking.
And Jason Todd cannot resist pranking the Prince of Gotham.
