Summary
It's been four years since Abbacchio survived hell with Buccellati. He's 25 now, and Buccellati's 24; four years ago they moved away to California to live out the rest of their lives in what both hoped was a respite and a place to heal themselves from the poisonous grip of Passione.
Life has a funny way of working though: because Abbacchio got better, but Buccellati got worse.
The odd situation gives Abbacchio an opportunity to deal with old feelings he's wanted to deal with for a long time: both those born in the cradle of his previous life and born in the cradle of his new home.
