Summary
When a pair of well-meaning idiots put a hole straight through the floorboards of Buggy's stage, the Faire hires a carpenter to fix it.
Enter Shanks: local handy-man, professional problem-solver, and, apparently immune to Buggy’s dramatic chewing-out.
Soon after, repairs keep appearing across the Faire, and somehow they always find their way to a certain over-the-top performer. What begins as a simple job grows into lingering visits, curious glances, and excuses thin enough for everyone but the two involved to see through.
Because some things are worth measuring carefully… and some mends are meant to take time.

Getting out of debt meant taking risks. Which was nothing new for a gambler like Buggy. So, when a job comes along that offers to not only get his business partners off his back, but also get him back in the good graces of his crew, he'd have been a fool not to jump at the opportunity, really.
So what if it meant robbing the King? He'd always been a defector, anyway.
That is until he finds himself roped into serving the King and, well... It could be worse, honestly. There could be an impending war on the horizon and colleagues looking to black-mail him and the pesky matter of why his heart seemed to pick up speed every time the King so much as breathed in his direction and...

Katara huffs from above him, and her voice is so much closer as she says, "You're not dying."
And, really, he's not dying. He knows that. He hadn't been dying eight months ago when he'd been in a similar prone position in United Stadium. He hadn't been dying in the ambulance or the hospital after, either.
He isn't dying. He knows that. But --
"But my career is," is what he ends up saying.

The road to recovery is long and uphill.
Sokka is injured during a hockey game, and everyone thinks his career is over in the NHL. Sokka himself topping that list.
But inspiration comes from the most unlikely sources... Even if that source wears stupid little toe picks on his skates. -

Summary
For some reason, the heart-rate monitor picks up its pace next to Sokka, and the two men look over at it in unison. Sokka pretends that the device is inconsequential to their current conversation. “You're taking off work for me?" he asks, dumbly. "You didn't even call out when you had the flu and I had to haul your body off the kitchen floor.”
"Yeah, well..." Zuko shifts, picks at a non-existent hang nail, brings it to his mouth to bite at. Sokka tracks the movements like the man of science he is, but it does very little to help him solve anything. “Consider this a thank you for the flu-thing, then,” he says around a mouthful of thumb.
OR
Sokka gets into a motorcycle accident and suffers a mortality crisis that makes him want to try and be more emotionally vulnerable. Unfortunately for both himself and Zuko, his roommate, that might mean admitting to himself that he kind-of-sort-of wants to share more than just living space with the other man.
