“Huh. So that’s what this is all about?” Sam let out a sad, soft laugh. “Look, I could tell you you’re an idiot and just kiss you again, but I’m going to indulge you. So, you have killed people, you have hurt them badly? I’m a fucking soldier as well, Buck, I know what that’s like.” Bucky opened his mouth, but Sam beat him to it “Uh-huh, don’t even think about it. You have to let me finish, because I listened to your speech, so now you gotta hear mine.”

We’ll find your home tomorrow." He plopped down, reaching for the remote the same time he found his lap full of cat. “One night,” he said again but didn’t move Figaro. “Then you got to go.”
OR: Sam Wilson is a commitment phobe firefighter. Bucky Barnes is an overworked college student. Neither of them have the time or inclincation for romance. But two cats just may change all that. Tis' the season for some Christmas fluff!

Sam says a lot in a few words, as if he’s carefully unfolding a map to let Bucky see a little more of who he is. Bucky thinks he might be willing to spend the rest of his life following the map, even if he never finishes the journey.
