Summary
Back in the good old pre-canon days, but things were never perfect. Wukong's gotten into a habit of going off on his own and not telling Macaque everything, and Macaque makes his displeasure clear. Thankfully, their relationship is good at handling strain and coming back together.

Macaque curled up on Wukong’s bed, dozing fitfully. If it was going to be like last night, or the night before, he was staying up entirely in vain. He’d never admit aloud to clinging to whatever bits of comfort he could find in his partner’s absence, though he didn’t make much effort to hide it- Wukong was just an idiot.
Just as soon as he was going to surrender to sleep, an ungraceful amount of noise from the front door perked him up.
“Heyyyyyy!” Wukong burst into the room, smiling widely.
His look flickered to Wukong’s hand. This guy. “You better not think that apology fruit is going to work on me again.”
Wukong quickly hid his hand with the peach behind his back. “Pfft, what? No! Course not!”
At least His Majesty had the sense to be sheepish about it. Macaque couldn’t help a huff of amusement from escaping him.
