Summary
The expression on his face is dead serious, and gives Clark the impression that there’s a hidden subtext that he’s not getting, and that he should know exactly what Bruce is referring to. Clark opens and closes his mouth to say something but no words come out.
Bruce sighs with exasperation. “You’re attracted to me.” He says finally.
Clark’s heart stops in his chest for a moment, dumbfounded. The back of his neck burns with embarrassment. Had he really been so obvious? And what conveyed the fact so easily? Was it when Clark couldn't keep from drooling when he stumbled upon a half-dressed Bruce covered in grease working on the Batmobile last week?

Even beneath his firm cowl, Clark could see the deepening frown marring Batman’s face. The look not unlike concern glinting in his eyes gave Clark pause. He turned back around and stared at the cooling water on the stove.
It was going to be spaghetti. At least, it was until he realised he was out of noodles, only had half a cup of flour left, and no tomatoes for sauce.
“Diana thought—” his uninvited guest paused a moment, before he cleared his throat and started over, “you took a nasty hit. Today.”
“Is that what this is about?” Clark almost wanted to laugh.

There weren’t many he let see this side of him. The side that actually cared. Children, mostly, were the ones he let down his guard for—to let them know it would be okay, they were safe with him, he was there to help. It was rare someone closer to his age got under his skin enough to drag out this quiet, simple, genuine side of him.

On a mission with the Justice League Bruce is exposed to a Black Mercy, but it isn't like the last time they were attacked by Mongul's alien plants. Bruce won't wake up and Clark is starting to panic.
Meanwhile Bruce is stuck in the happiest nightmare he could ever imagine. Too bad he doesn't know he's dreaming, otherwise he might've been able to hear Clark calling his name desperately.--
When he lands, the ground crunching underneath his weight, Clark gasps quietly.
“No,” he says, because right there, next to a crying child and its mother, is Bruce. He’s on his knees, looking straight ahead and even without seeing more than his back, Clark already knows what’s happened.
