He’d only heard it once before, at the summer neighborhood cookout, when the older lady two doors down warned him to steer clear of the eccentric robotics engineer who lived at the end of the cul-de-sac. At the time, Link—never a social butterfly with new people anyway—had shrugged and taken the neighbor’s advice.

    “Bosphoramus,” she supplied. “You’re Link Firly, yes?”

    “Yes,” he breathed, and shook her hand.

    It was warm.
