“Say. It. To. My. Face,” Ilya repeated, every word spit out from between clenched teeth, his accent heavy, anger dripping from his voice.
In his peripheral vision, he saw Bood and Dykstra approaching and he held up a hand to stop them. This was between him and Petrov. He would take care of this on his team.
“I will not do that,” Petrov finally replied, his eyes darting to somewhere behind Ilya and then back. “You’re my teammate.
“I’ am your captain,” Ilya hissed. “You say it to him, you can say it to me.”
Petrov swallowed, and for the first time, glanced around him as if to ask for help from his other teammates, none of which would come to his defense right now because Ilya had told them to hold.

They sit awkwardly, no longer having the menus to distract them. Patrick is suddenly very uncomfortable. Without thinking he opens his mouth. “I can pay for my food.”
Jonny looks at him confusedly. “I invited you out.”
“I know, but—”
“I know I don’t have a lot of money,” Jonny interrupts, voice higher than he means it to be, suddenly looking very annoyed. When the people at the next table turn to look at them he swallows, shoulders hunched. “I drive a shitty car and live in a trailer park, but I can afford to buy you a drink and dinner at TGI Friday’s.”
Patrick goes quiet, mouth in a thin line, feeling suddenly very, very guilty.
“Look,” Jonny continues. “I know you’re out of my league. I can’t take you to the newest steakhouse like Greg, or on a yacht like Mike, but I think you’re cute and I want to get to know you better.”

After all, Stiles doesn’t mention that time Derek went grief-stricken and ran away from humanity, or the two or three times Derek has talked Stiles down from a panic attack, no big gestures or dramatics, just slow steady words until the overwhelming crushing anxiety eased some, or that time Stiles dug a bullet out of Derek’s stomach, swearing and sweating and cursing him and maybe crying a little, or that time with the evil, nasty little gnomes.
There’s a lot they don’t talk about. This is just another thing to add to the list.
OR: Derek and Stiles get kidnapped. Or more accurately, Stiles gets kidnapped and Derek gets kidnapped looking for him, although he'll never tell Stiles that. Angst and a little violence ensures.

The thing is, Stiles would deal, but others might not. People found Lord Hale horrid, monstrous and unapproachable.
If Stiles stood behind him, no one would touch him.
He’d be safe with the wolf. If not from him, then definitely from everyone else. And that was enough.

Jonny collapses onto his back, reaching over for his phone. It only takes a minute for Patrick to flop over on top of him, stuffing his face into Jonny’s neck and dragging his wet lips across his skin.
“You’d let me tie you up in Cabo?”
Patrick sniffles. “Not that you deserve it, but yes.” He sounds sleepy, exhausted, is literally dead weight on top of Jonny. Jonny reaches down and squeezes his ass gently, careful not to squeeze too rough and cause Patrick any more discomfort. “I wanna bath,” Patrick slurs, sleep-drunk.

Stan’s been promising him a permanent right wing for years, and maybe it’s not entirely Stan’s fault, but those promises always seem to fall through, so Jonny doesn’t pay much attention to the draft, and turns off his Team Stream. He misses the convention to have his wisdom teeth removed, so he’s a bit clueless when he arrives at training camp, and everyone is buzzing about some kid named Patrick Kane.
