But Bruce should’ve noticed. Should’ve noticed the boy’s identical frown when he first woke up in the morning. Should’ve noticed the arched eyebrows that looked like a bat’s wings. Should’ve noticed the identical dimples that sat right in the middle of his cheeks. But what he really should’ve noticed were Duke’s eyes. Because Elaine had brown eyes, and Gnomon’s were that odd shimmering gold, but Duke’s were a bright, crystal blue. A blue that matched his own.
Or, I read a bunch of AU's where one of the Batkids is revealed to be Bruce's bio kids but literally NOBODY ever does this with Duke and I think that's an injustice so I did it myself smh. Do better.

“Damian, come here”, Bruce said gently. And for whatever reason, his feet automatically moved. He looked up at his father, rage and hurt and something else all reflected in his light green eyes. Eyes so much like Thalia’s. It was like a missing puzzle piece had finally clicked into place. Damian’s eyes were green, like his mother’s. Like his grandfather’s. But the triplets all had blue eyes. Like Bruce. Like their grandmother’s. The only difference was that the triplets had partial heterochromia, a splash of brown infiltrating a sea of blue. Bruce had only noticed the difference. But Damian, Damian had only noticed the similarity.

One of the babies made a cooing noise in his sleep, and Bruce gently reached a hand, brushing the boy’s curls out of his face. He just stood there, quietly, taking in the fact that he was a father… again. This time to kids young enough that it almost felt like a do over. A chance to get it right this time. He had failed over and over again with his other children; he couldn’t bear the thought of failing these three too.

"Dick", a voice suddenly murmured. His head darted upwards to find Bruce looking at him. He had somehow managed to walk in without Dick noticing. "Hey B", Dick whispered, baby still snuggled close to his chest. "Your kids a riot; he was studying me." Bruce smiled, but there was something in his eyes that didn't quite match his face. Bruce looked at the other two cribs, tiny infants still fast asleep. Dick held his arms out and Bruce took the baby. The baby yawned and immediately curled into his chest, eyelids already drooping closed.

Bruce nodded. “What are you gonna do with the ship?”, Bruce asked. But his mind was elsewhere. He was trying to figure out whether his old crib was still in the attic and how long it would take him to clean. He was trying to convince himself that he wouldn’t get attached, that if the baby’s parents came looking, he would give it back no problem. He was trying to convince himself that the little sting of longing had more to do with his own children than this one, that he didn’t really want to keep this baby, he just wanted to be able to hold his own children like he could hold this one. Trying and failing.

The events of Superman still happen, but a lot later and instead of Martha and Jonathan Kent finding a little space baby in their fields, the Justice League finds a space baby that landed in Gotham. And whatever lands in Gotham, Bruce calls dibs on. That includes little space babies.

He'd been working with M'gann for years now. They'd become heroes around the same time and he felt like he was more than familiar with her methods and how it appeared. Even when they weren't psychically linked. That was the only way he was able to distinguish the changes in her behavior in the field. Maybe she was right. Maybe he wasn't thinking clearly. But that was what he'd told himself the first and second time.

A retelling of that time M'gann tried to alter Conner's memories because she was absolutely ridiculous for that one.
