McCree had several problems. The most important one at the moment was his mentor and father figure disappearing without a trace. If Gabe left without telling McCree where he was going, it was bad. If Gabe left without telling his partner, Jack, it was catastrophic.
It was Detective Shimada's skill of finding people that led McCree to him.

Hanzo awakens to the feel of grit in his eyes and the crunch of sand between his teeth. This in itself doesn’t rudely force him into consciousness, but the insistent flicking against his nose that he groggily attempts to bat away, does.
