Quietly, Zoro thinks that it must not have been that many years.
Yet before anyone can think to do anything, Helmeppo is turning on Zoro with a snarl marring his lips. Zoro just sort of blinks as that anger is turned on him, not really knowing as to what to say. Helmeppo beats him to the punch anyways as he points at Zoro like he’s a disobedient hound and seethes, “You. You summoned this- this demon didn’t you?”

I feel the world pause.
I’ve heard those words said before, many, many times before. Said by the greedy and overconfident; those chasing the One Piece and the title it bestows. Every time I heard the words they were hollow. Every time, the din of the spirits became discordant and enraged.
Every time I would hear those words it felt wrong. But now, for the first time in my life, hearing those words from this boy with the straw hat, they felt right.

It was supposed to be a normal day. Well, no, not really. Something was off. I couldn’t explain it. It wasn’t part of my usual routine, and I’m not the kind of person who just decides to go on a late-night walk. Especially not for something as mundane as a damn convenience store run. I knew for a fact I could’ve done it in the morning. But instead? It felt like something—some force—was dragging me out the door, keeping me wide awake until I got it done.
