Lance looked at him warily for half a second before the exhaustion apparently won out. Keith guided him carefully down onto the bathroom floor instead, maneuvering him until Lance sat between his knees with his back angled toward Keith’s chest.

Lance is hit by an alien's attack, and somehow ends up not with an agonizing death or being fatally poisoned, but with the ability to read minds. Except, he can only hear the things people think of him. And not only that, but he can feel their emotions towards him, as well as see visions or images they think about him as well.
Of course, this would be amazingly cool, if not for the fact that it's how Lance finds out that Keith is in love with him.
Now Lance has to navigate all of those burning thoughts while coming to focus with his own emotions for Keith. But it's hard to do that very thing when all your thoughts are taken up by another's.

It was a poor decision. Keith had had a lot of bad ideas, and this one could be the worst of them all. Did he care? Hell, no.
He got up and walked over to the other boy, putting one leg between Lance's legs.
He leaned over Lance and whispered in his ear, "Sometimes, I imagine it like this. I imagine kissing you breathless and bending over on the first flat surface available. I imagine making you scream my name until there will be more breath in your throat. I imagine you with your legs open under me, waiting for me and ... "
He stopped seeing that both of them had an erection.

You will most likely be gone within the month, so don’t get too comfortable. Do you understand, mullet?”
It must have been something in the way the prince was looking at him, or the stupid nickname, because suddenly the fact that Lance was the prince meant absolutely nothing.
Keith continued to hold his gaze. “Well good thing my job isn’t meant to control you then, your highness,” he said sneering. “It’s to protect you. So whether you like it or not, I’m with you. No matter how many things you do to make me miserable, you better get used to me because I’m not going anywhere.”
