David loved being at camp. He loved the constant smell of pine, the soft hooting of owls, and only the occasional sound of a raid on the camp. But there was something special about being at home too, even if it was surprisingly loud. It almost made it difficult to sleep, but in the few weeks since the last camper went home, he got used to the noise again. Almost.
That night was particularly loud. There must have been a crash not far from him earlier that night, and David had just managed to slip into the hazy state of not-quite-sleep around midnight.
That was, until his phone rang.
