Summary
The way Jack snuggles into his chest, seeking comfort but almost as if trying to hide himself. His eyes flutter, staring at Bruce's skin as if looking anywhere else would reveal too much. Then, in the quietness of the room, he mumbles. Small, almost afraid to admit it. "Sometimes it feels like...there's more to us. Something missing, something big."
Bruce, now much more alert, sits up. Jack follows his movements, though still keeps his head down even when Bruce forcefully grabs his shoulders. "What do you mean?" Bruce asks, almost a desperate plea. The first few words of normalcy he's heard in days, and yet his excitement quells as Jack looks away.
Curling in on himself, Jack huffs. A pathetic kind of laugh, almost unsure with how to feel. "I don't...I don't know"

Joker felt an arm wrap around him, and he flinched, kicking them away with a gasp. His eyes widened when he watched Bruce Wayne stumble back with a shocked expression on his face. "I-I'm..." He wanted to say he was sorry, but when did he ever apologize for anything he did?
So he just laughed. Not jolly, not manic, not to cope with his emotions, he just laughed. because he was broken, and he didn't know what else to do.

'Well, this changes everything. First off, just his luck, right? Of course the child that is now technically in his care keels over because he's just gotten his secondary biology. Second, the kid was a damn omega. Despite Joker reeaally not wanting to be responsible for this, he couldn't exactly leave the Robin out here. Because he gets it, now. The question. He can't answer it, wouldn't dare even begin to think about it. It was hypothetical, he could never go back, this wasn't necessary to answer. Yet those green eyes were piercing, forcing the lump forming in Bruce's throat to tighten and expand like he was choking.
