Summary
Etho has been running since the first whispers of a war coiled around the throat of the workshop he grew up in. Artisans and scientists are not fighters, but their children could be molded into them.
If he were a better man, Etho would have died in the war, but a better man would not have been a soldier to begin with.
OR
Etho, Lizzie, and Joel and a long ride through a post-war world that wishes above everything to forget the years of violence. Even if that means forgetting Etho.

Summary
She opens the zoom call and waits for ES to enter the waiting room. She pauses at the name that does appear.
“Ethoslab (He/Him)” is what appears in the waiting room. It can only be ES, but she’s shocked that he would reveal his name so quickly into this process. She admits him to the call. When it connects, the first thing she notices is that he does not have his camera on. In it’s place is a profile picture of Kakashi from Naruto which she recognizes only from watching a few episodes with Joel once.

Summary
“If anyone sees us like this, I’m fleeing the country,” Doc says, standing beside Ren in the hallway outside Martyn’s apartment.
It’s a birthday celebration, technically. When they first started dating, Martyn told them he hated birthdays. He promised that he really didn’t want a celebration. He’d rather it not be acknowledged at all, but Doc has realized something about Martyn, in the years that they have been dating.
Martyn will do or say anything if he thinks it will make someone else happy.

Summary
Etho’s always been sensitive to anything medical. That’s why he avoids it.
His friends press him about it sometimes. He comes down with a cold and suddenly he has at least a dozen people hounding him about urgent care and nurse lines and office visits. His favorite excuse is that he can’t afford the copay. Generally, if you pull the money-issues card folks will back right off. It’s not a complete lie either. If he had a copay, which his insurance does not require, he wouldn’t be able to pay it.
It doesn’t matter. He had to stop using the excuse after Cleo venmo-ed him fifty bucks and drove him to urgent care herself.
OR
Etho goes through the diagnostic process for lupus with Lizzie and Joel for emotional support. It helps.

Summary
Zedaph’s triumph is met with a spoon flung across the table in his general direction. Tango is a sore loser and has bad aim. He misses. The spoon hits the wall behind Zed with a sharp twang and clatters to the ground. Both men at the table go completely still. Impulse, who had started peacefully washing dishes, pauses. There is a dangerous silence in the kitchen.
“Are we throwing utensils across the table at each other like children right now?” he asks.

Impulse needs a bouquet as a reference for a tattoo he's working on. What better person than the cute florist next door to help him make it. Scott's expertise in the language of flowers and Impulse's knowledge of his client should be a perfect combination for this project. Surely, no one will catch feelings. That would be silly.

Summary
Checking the door for errant students one last time, Martin types into the search bar, “what to do if you see your friend on a dating app?” Surely Jon counts as a friend? He’s almost pleasant to him when they end up in faculty meetings together. Google insists it’s perfectly normal and, in fact, funny to swipe right on a friend. Besides the worst case scenario is they don’t match and Jon never finds out. He swipes right. A huge heart bubbles up on screen, squishing together their two profile pictures. Fuck.
OR
Archives staff team are all University English professors and Martin matches with Jon on a dating app. Anxiety and a date ensue.

Summary
There comes a sigh from the other end that makes him hunch in on himself as though to hide from the sound. “I’ll keep it straight with you, Jon. Tim is worried about you. I know what you’re doing, you’re–”
He interrupts her with a bitter laugh that he forces through the catch in his throat. “What am I doing then?”
She continues without acknowledging him. “Refusing to answer texts or calls thinking that we don’t actually care about you and it’s easier to let us forget you or some bullshit. Waiting for us to prove to you that we really do care. I’m not playing into it, Jon. This is the last call. If you need help, you need to ask.”
