His face was twisted into a scowl as he glared at Steve with everything he had, but when Steve met those big, beautiful, hazel eyes, he didn’t see the anger or viciousness he was clearly trying to portray, he just looked so scared.
And Steve’s heart went out to him.
It was probably foolish, the guy had him pinned to the wall in his own garage with something sharp pressed against the soft skin of his neck. And yet, the pain and fear he could see in this stranger’s eyes made him just want to gather him close in a hug and let him know that it would all be okay.
God, Robin and Max had always said that his bleeding heart would be the death of him.

Summary
Everyone hears the rumors. Billy Hargrove and Steve Harrington are caught by Old Man Hargrove doing—something. The gossip mill can’t decide on what exactly, but everyone agrees: something gay went down.
A week later, the rundown trailer next door to Eddie is full.
At first, Eddie gets it. Hargrove and Harrington are both assholes, so of course they’re together. Sure, the fact that they’re gay is a bit of a shock but the fact that two dickhead jocks would choose to be together—makes perfect sense. But after weeks and then months of sharing cigarettes with Harrington whenever he needs to escape the screaming fights waiting for him inside, things shift in his head. Eddie doesn’t get it anymore.

Or, two months after Steve and Eddie officially get together, Steve finds himself thinking about home, his heart, and how to let go.

“Earth to Eddie,” Steve says, voice light. “Do you copy?”
“Huh?” Eddie blinks, brilliantly articulate. Steve snorts.
“You looked pretty far gone. You good?”
“Yeah—yeah, I’m good.”
The smile Steve gives him is fond, golden, warm enough to melt steel. “Good. ‘Cause don’t think I forgot our deal, Munson. Come on, let’s get you in the pool.”
Eddie gasps, hand to his chest in mock scandal. “Steven. Is this a ploy to get me wet and naked?”
Steve’s already halfway to the house, but he tosses a wink over his shoulder, all smooth confidence. “Believe me, I wouldn’t need a ploy for that.”
Eddie swallows hard—loud enough he’s pretty sure Steve hears it—and for a second he seriously considers bolting in the opposite direction. But his legs move him forward anyway, like they know something his brain hasn’t caught up to yet.
Thin swim trunks suddenly feel like a terrible idea.

Steve and Eddie are friends. Ever since Steve's been getting confused over the kids' nerdy stuff, Eddie has stepped up to help. After a particularly bad night, the two form an even closer bond.
Excerpt:
Dustin’s voice drifted to them from the kitchen, “You wouldn’t understand, Steve.” Robin giggled, along with everyone else. But, Eddie saw the smallest, ever-so-slight glimmer of sadness in the man’s eyes.
He really wanted to know, Eddie realized.
The thought was enough to make him call out to Dustin, “Quit acting like you know what you’re talking about. You’re all about to die because Will is a way better DM than me and you got too comfortable,” then, he turned to Steve pointedly, “They’re screaming because Wheeler’s heroics just got him murdered and now they have no solid source of damage outside of Lucas’s ranger.”
He heard offended gasps from behind him and ignored them. Because the smile that spread across Steve’s face confirmed Eddie’s decision.

The Party has decided to start weekly movie nights. Eddie's down, but is slightly uncomfortable doing it in Steve's house. Luckily some bonding experience and Eddie being a simp makes it better.

"So, when the Party had decided to start hosting weekly movie nights, it wasn’t like he was going to decline the invitation. Although, King Steve Harrington being the one to house them was a bit uncomfortable. Eddie had nothing against the guy, really, but he wasn’t thrilled to be subjected to his presence once a week.
Once someone pulls you, nearly dead and bleeding, out of literal hell it becomes a bit weird to simply sit in their house. It wasn’t like Eddie was being ungrateful! He was very glad that King Steve had cared enough to save his life. Over the moon, truly!
So, Eddie swallowed his pride, and forced himself to deal with being in Steve’s house for three, long hours."
