He swayed to break away from it all, having always been wary of the Catholic Church and its condemnation. Prince Gilbert von Beilschmidt of Brandenburg, terrified for his younger brother's soul, sends him to Rome to see that Luther’s teachings are nothing more than the devil tempting him.
In Rome, he meets Father Vargas.
And it’s there that he understands that true temptation came through a man with amber eyes and tan skin.

And Zoro blinks at him, then, and sees both of them at once—both of them—and he grips Luffy’s face in his own hands (claws) and presses his lips (violent, full of teeth) against his. Because this is who he has been waiting a thousand years for, the brightest and most beautiful of them all, the one thing he could never have—could never see, not if (Luffy, Joyboy, Nika) had made different (worse) choices—the thing that could never thrive in the darkness, just like he could never (has been unable to for centuries) survive without it—

Summary
When Sanji's father decides to sell the diner in the town where he grew up, Sanji reluctantly returns home to help prepare the place for sale. He should have known he'd have to deal with Zoro who never left their small town and who seems to be nursing a chip on his shoulder. Which might be fair given what happened between them.
Worse than saying goodbye to the diner Sanji loves so much are the weird happenings around town. Sanji would just ignore it all if only Zoro didn't start acting suspicious as hell.

The rubber man captain was overlooking the sea from the pier at the island where Sunny was docked at, but all he could see was the endless blue of the ever-moving water. No ship on the horizon, no sailors or pirates or even no Marines wherever he looked. The sea was stormy as the skies above them, just like the thoughts clouding his senses.

And then he freezes, because yes, actually—something is very, very wrong.
The Sunny is anchored just off shore, close enough to see the deck but far enough away that the crew has had to take the Mini Merry to make land. Scattered across the beach in various stages of chaos—rolling around, yelling, fighting—are his crew but not his crew, so similar and yet so, so different. They look younger, fresher, and whatthefuck there, on the deck of the Sunny just peering over the railing, he catches a flash of green—his own green hair—
“Ah, fuck,” he grunts, and then immediately turns back around because no, actually, he does not want to deal with this.
