Summary
In a confrontation in space, Sonic ends up falling into a trap by Eggman that allows him to use the power of the chaos emeralds to break open the earth and begin the awakening of a beast known as Dark Gaia. Now Sonic and his friends must go on a journey around the world to put the planet back together and stop the beast from fully awakening.
However, Sonic must also deal with a part of the beast that had found its way within him, causing a transformation when the sun goes down, and the entity within is not happy that Sonic is still in control when that happens.
