Summary
Matt and Shiro, both traumatized survivors of the Hunger Games, just want to make it through mentoring so they can get back home together. They built a life for themselves thanks to the Games, but they'd rather pretend it doesn't exist when they can, and struggle though when they can't.
Kolivan, also a Hunger Games Victor, has the same goal as Matt and Shiro. He never expected the doomed Tribute he was mentoring to worm his way into his heart and change everything, to make Kolivan care.
And Curtis, fighting for his life, has no idea what awaits him on the other side of the 93rd Hunger Games. But whatever it is, he wants to fight so he can discover it, and if his Mentor sticks around to find it with him... well, that's okay with him, too.

Summary
Shiro doesn't do helplessness well.
When the Paladins crashed to Earth, Shiro started to realize he wasn't where he was meant to be, and Allura has been plagued by the same thoughts ever since then, too.
But before Shiro can have any hope of trading places with Allura, he has to answer the question of how he can fly the Black Lion without being absorbed into her inner quintessence again.
The answer will change not only his and Allura's lives, but also that of his Communications Officer.Or: a canon divergence fix-it AU in which Allura doesn't die, Shiro is the Black Paladin, and Curtis gets to have a bigger role in the story.

Summary
Shiro watches them streak through the sky like meteors, glowing hot from re-entry, not slowing down. He watches them crash with a resounding cacophony of noise and debris, the impact strong enough that they can feel it here, on the bridge of the Atlas. He watches the static on the screen, accompanied by a long pause of silence that hangs heavy in the room.
Is this what it was like for them, when he disappeared? Did it feel this hollow, this empty? It had never been his choice to leave. If he’d been able to stay, would this have turned out differently?
In the wake of the battle for Earth, Shiro reminisces on his past while he tries to save what he cares about most.
Or - five times Shiro faced death, and one time he chose to stay.

I decided to write this after being OUTRAGED by the number of highly problematic and abusive fanfics I see on this site! Honestly I shouldn't even post it here at all, since AO3 is complicit in LITERAL SEX TRAFFICKING and ABUSE by allowing just anyone to post whatever they want. But it's the best website for posting fic. What am I supposed to do, raise money to pay for servers and use AO3's entirely, 100% open source code to start a new site that upholds REAL MORALITY? Anyways here's my fanfic. If you comment on this fic with ANY NEGATIVE OPINION it's ABUSE and I will call the FBI. I'm only 28, so if you comment on this fic at all and you're older than me, it's GROOMING and I will call the FBI.
