Summary

He carefully moved from the bed, he was dressed in dark green pajamas, finally something that was his. He moved around the room avoiding the toys, stopping when the floor creaked. He glanced back to see her shift slightly, but settle back down.
Draco let out a sigh of relief, he just needed to find out where he was and if he needed to vanish out of the place. A one-night stand during the Second War wasn’t uncommon when on the move, but this seemed different. He never hooked up with a witch who was most likely a mother. He froze for a second time when he heard the door of the bedroom door rattle before a click and the door opened. A small child no more than three peaked in from behind the door. Platinum blonde hair was just barely past her shoulders and light grey eyes with a tinge of blue. She wore light blue pajamas as she carried a white rabbit. The little sleepy-eyed girl walked over and lifted her arms to be picked up.
He was hesitant as he leaned down and picked the little girl up in his arms. The little girl wrapped her arms around him as he looked around a bit panicked. This wasn’t his kid, this wasn’t his home.

Summary
On Hiatus 6/8/2024
This fic was set to private for a few months. I struggled with the fact that I lost the confidence I needed to continue working on a story that I love so much. Regardless of whether I ever regain enough courage to complete it, I'm proud of where I am with it for now. So back up it goes. It's not abandoned but is not actively being worked on at this time.
"Muggleborn." Draco interrupts Lupin.
"Muggleborn?"
"Yes. If you require that I be Polyjuiced to work alongside the Order, I'll agree to it, but I won't be masquerading as a half-blood."
Lupin tilts his head in confusion. "I admit, I don't understand. Is this some misguided idea of penance?"
"Penance? No, you da..." Draco takes in a deep breath and then lets it out harshly. "No. I told you I want proximity. Your Order needs her, and no one has as much of a vested interest in her safety as I do. If Snatchers find us, and they think I'm a half-blood, do you think I have a shot in hell at going where they take her? No. Muggleborn. Or I have no interest in your ruse. Understand?"
Lupin gapes at the resolved pureblood. "Yes. I'm beginning to."
