Stiles blinked, his mouth partially parting. But he didn’t know what to say.
“I never wish that feeling on anyone,” Derek finally stated, dropping his hand from Stiles.

"Yes, you do." Laura's voice was firm, though her smile was sharp. “Peter needs one too. Should I assign Stiles to him instead, Derek?”
"No." Derek’s voice was tight, his nostrils still flaring, the red flicker in his eyes stubbornly lingering.
"I didn’t think so." Laura’s tone was smug as she placed a hand on Stiles' shoulder. The growl that rumbled from Derek was immediate, low and threatening. His eyes widened for a brief moment before he forced his teeth to clamp shut, cutting it off.

Summary
A few weeks before college starts, Stiles signs up for an app called Heat-finder to meet an alpha to get him through his next heat. Stiles is bound and determined to not be some cliché college age virgin and decides a heat partner is the way to go. If he embarrassed himself then at least he would never have to see the alpha again, right?

“Yup. That's me, Stiles. I'm Stiles.” He swallowed nervously. “Actually, no my name is Mieczysław but I couldn't say that when I was little. I-I would mispronounce it and say my name was Mischief. It's a family name, Polish. Mieczysław, not Mischief, that would be weird. My mom picked it out." Oh god, Stiles couldn’t stop the flow, the words just kept coming and coming. He just couldn't seem to help himself and knew as Derek's brows rose higher that he was fucking blowing it! "It was her dad’s name. I don't know where Stiles came from.”

Derek Hale holds a gargantuan alpha paw out to Stiles for shaking. Stiles glares at it for a moment, eyes flicking desperately to Jordan for approval without thinking about it. He hasn’t moved or done anything without Jordan’s permission in so long he can’t help himself, and everyone in the room notices. Derek Hale most notably. He looks at Stiles’ reaction, looks at Jordan, and slowly retracts his hand. “No talking to alphas, is that it?” There’s accusation there in his tone, but it’s veiled. Thinly. But it is veiled.
“He can talk to whoever he likes to talk to, he just doesn’t like alphas,” Jordan corrects firmly. “Stiles, shake his hand.”

Stiles thought it would be easy doing janitorial work for an office. At first, it really was. The job only took a few hours in the evenings and it helped pay for rent and college. Sure, Hale Industries took up an entire floor in one of the downtown financial buildings, but the place was new and easy to care for. He didn’t even have to spend much time cleaning the huge corner office, because the trash was nearly always empty and the office itself was spotless, like no one used it.
It was basically the perfect college job. At least, until the boss started staying late.

Esteban thinks he’s figured his own past out, unwound and stared at and digested it, but that’s still something about his childhood he doesn’t like to look into, not deeply, not cruelly, not with scrutiny. He leaves it there. It almost remains innocent, like that, something clueless and soft and indiscernible that made no more sense when he was twelve years old and crossing the last few lines he’d ever draw in the sand before he lost something forever.
Maybe it’s cruel, to someone, Pierre or otherwise, to refuse to admit he ever really loved him.
