About eight years after their high school graduation, Noelle and Susie meet back up with Kris whom they haven’t seen since they moved to New York. Riddled with guilt from the past, Noelle hopes to make amends with Kris and improve her relationship with them; Meanwhile, Susie refuses to acknowledge the distance growing between her and her best friend. Having been in a stable relationship since the festival, Susie and Noelle can’t imagine a future without the other… At the same time, seeing Kris again has prodded old wounds and fueled forgotten embers. As Susie and Noelle come face to face with their desires, they are also forced to accept the new life Kris has built without them. The journey to rekindling their relationship may prove more treacherous than originally thought…

Taking place post chapter 7, Kris and the gang, including Noelle go through the long process of healing after the prophecy breaks. Kris is free from the control of the Soul, and has to adjust to making their own decisions and facing the consequences of their actions. Susie dealing with Kris's betrayal. The Holiday family all have their own demons to battle, Noelle's feeling about Susie and Kris are put into question, Carol coming to terms with the effects of her parenting, Rudy with his impending end and December learning to live again after being freed from the darkness. its going to be a bumpy road, but a flat and straight road would be too boring. Right?

Summary
After an evening of stopping a titan and feeling like they could take on the world, Kris' night was ruined by a sobering reality. Seeking for a quiet rest and something to eat, they decide to meet with one of the only people that they can act honestly around anymore-- Carol. It's not a particularly comforting break, but they at least recognize some truth in each other.
It's a moment for Carol to let some of her guard down, and for Kris to ruminate on some bottled-up emotions. Then, it's a moment for all of that to be disregarded.
