Après le tome 6, Harry apprend des choses surprenantes sur ses parents à Godric's Hollow. Là-bas, Bellatrix Lestrange l'attendait. Ce qui se passera marquera à jamais Harry.Il fait donc la connaissance d'Abelforth Dumbledore qui lui propose une opportunité: remonter le temps dans les années 40 quand Tom Jedusor entrait en septième année à Poudlard pour le tuer ou faire en sorte qu'il ne devienne pas le futur Seigneur des Ténèbres. Harry accepte avec l'intention de se venger et de sauver le monde. Il devient Harry Cleeford, un Sang-Pur de l'obscurité et est réparti à Serpentard.
Mais rien n'est comme il le pensait. Il y a des intrigues dans cette époque, des choses enchevêtrées sous des couches de secrets. Même Tom Jedusor n'est pas du tout comme Albus lui avait dit. Et soudain, les choses sont beaucoup plus compliquées. Harry pourra-t-il résister au côté manipulateur de Tom? Et que veut Albus Dumbledore de l'Héritier Harry Cleeford?

Mais un beau jour, quelque chose d'étrange se produit et un bébé en pleurs apparaît chez lui. Et étrangement, Tom sent qu'il à une connexion avec cet enfant. Alors qu'est-ce qui l'empêcherait d'utiliser cet enfant pour son plan de domination du monde sorcier? Beaucoup de choses.
