The way Ginny wrote of her, he had expected a Valkyrie bearing a greatsword and carved of marble; with the curse scar his other self had given her displayed like a crown, declaring her queen. The inaccuracy of this image led to immense disappointment.
Her cropped and wily hair, like Perseus had missed Medusa’s head and had shaven the snakes instead, hid the scar from his gaze. The skinny thing, all bone and muscle, quivered in the presence of the grand chamber. In other words. She was pathetic. Lacking.

So this is my first ever Drarry pairing but it screamed to be written. I was very much inspired by the song Far From Home by Five Finger Death Punch—specifically the version used in that Criminal Minds scene where Rossi shuts Ashley Seaver into the SUV. That moment hits way hard every time I watch it but this time it kind of lodged itself in my chest. Something about quiet goodbyes and letting go and choosing to keep going even when it hurts?
What if Draco did just that. What if, after the War, he quietly went somewhere else to make something of himself, despite who he was groomed to be. And what if he comes back five years later only to find Harry Potter, a boy who should have had everything, is lost. What if Draco gives this lost and broken Harry Potter a new cause to champion.
