The rose- still a tightly wound bud- was tiny, barely the size of his pinky nail, but exquisite in detail. It looked like a real flower, cast into a paper thin spiral of metal. Like something his parents would make, with his dad’s eye for detail and his mom’s skill hammering metal into sheets so thin you could almost see through them. It was beautiful, but his throat still hurt. Starting as an itch in his chest, building until the urge to cough was unbearable, the rose had clawed its way up his throat until he spat it out onto the table.
Dimly, Gorgug wondered how something so beautiful could come from inside him.

Rio sighs, dragging her hands down her face in exasperation, but she shows herself. She can’t help it.
“I was not hiding,” she spits, “I was working. And, you know, I don’t have to show up for you every time you leave me a treat, I’m not your pet.” As she says this, she takes a few strides closer to Agatha, who has the audacity to look amused.
“Right. Of course not,” she drawls, feigning earnestness. “And yet you do show up every time. Very curious,” she grins.
