He stared at the ceiling, at the little bioluminescent stars that dotted the plaster. They were peeling around the edges, now, fading with age but still contrasting with the Landlord White colored ceiling. The stars didn't help him sleep; he didn't think he’d ever sleep again.

“My mom’s dead,” Peter shot back flatly.
Harley choked on his food, and the table fell into stunned silence. “Dude,” he finally managed, his voice full of horrified disbelief.
“He does this all the time,” Ned muttered, throwing up his hands. “Peter. Man. Stop.”

Peter, like any 14 year old superhero, really wants to catch a break. He's just a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, nothing special. Well, only if you don't look at his biology ever since the radioactive spider bite. And his extensive track record of running away and deaths in his life. And that his foster-dad is Tony Stark. And that his mentors are the Avengers. And the fact that he was randomly kidnapped one morning on his way to school and now he's in an alternate universe with a bunch of different superheroes that keep stalking him.
He thinks they mean well, but they're really weird. Besides that Red Hood guy. He's pretty cool. Though something about them- especially Nightwing- is familiar...
